Assembly

In addition to creating frames and mounts, we offer a print finishing service that includes full product assembly. Work is carried out by trained picture framers and is finished to bespoke framing standards. Full assembly includes standard or non-reflective glass, 2.5mm MDF backing board, appropriate hanging hardware and sealing tape. Completed products are despatched to you in presentation boxes ready to be handed to the customer. Good indexing of prints is essential. Submissions should have a form of identification printed adjacent to, or on the reverse of the image. Ideally a thumbnail of the image is provided.; Prints should neither be sent with instructions taped to them nor with references / order details written on the reverse in dark ink. Print submissions should be supported with an order encompassing all details with the print references clearly noted. Please note that upon receipt of the order, we prefer to separate the images and the paperwork so that the images are subjected to minimal handling. Prints can be accepted direct from the processing lab if you are confident the quality will be consistent. Mounted or unmounted prints can be submitted for assembly into the chosen product. Unmounted images that are to be framed behind glass will be mounted onto adhesive board prior to assembly. Unmounted prints that are to be framed without glass will be dry mounted and laminated. We currently use both heat activated and cold dry mounting and laminating processes. Most inkjet prints can only be cold laminated. Size restrictions apply to prints submitted for dry mounting and laminating as follows: It is now a popular practice not to use a mount, i.e. the image being inserted directly behind the glass. To prevent the common issues arising from the paper touching the glass, we use a 1mm transparent frame spacer to keep them apart. Many clients prefer to have some form of studio/photographer signature or emblem on the mounts. There are a number of ways to achieve this even when the product is completed at our premises. As the options are varied, please call to discuss your requirements. |
